Toshiko Banton

Toshiko paints things from her imagination, although she doesn’t work with pre-conceived ideas. Her work evolves through the process of creating. Imagery arises as she thinks about forms, lines, and movement through space. She uses a variety of media including collage material, often from previous work, sometimes abstract and sometimes representational. She combines these with layers of colour in different textures to create various moods and emotions.

Her goal is to create evocative imagery to which viewers may discover a personal connection.
