Mew

Familiar things made slightly strange is a recurring thread in my work. The vessel draws on ancient pots as carriers of food, oil, water and stories, imagined as though unearthed from an ‘archaeological dig’ in the 1980s. This connects with the humble checky laundry bags that also appear in my work, both simply carrying stuff. Alongside it is a large, quilted dog wall hanging. The works aren’t intended to illustrate each other, but I like the conversation between them: one carries things, the other carries our feelings. Both give the familiar a new life
